Liturgy - Revelation

' I want you to know brothers that the Gospel I preached is not something that man made up. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.'
(Gal 1:11)

Into your presence we come
Father Son and Holy Spirit , Glorious Trinity.
We are here to listen to your word as it is revealed to us
and then to act upon it in our daily lives.
We are here to be filled with your Spirit
and dedicate our lives again to you.
We are here because you call us to service
as you have called your saints throughout history.
We are here of our own free will

'This we proclaim concerning the Word of Life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.'
(1 John 1)

For the steadfast message of your prophets through the ages
All: Word of life, we thank you
For the hope and encouragement we find within the Scriptures
All: Word of life, we thank you
For your Word that comes alive in our hearts as we hear it
All: Word of life, we thank you
For those quiet times alone with you, when you speak directly to our hearts
All: Word of life, we thank you
For the continuing revelation of your active love for all mankind
All: Word of life, we thank you

'For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart..'
Heb 4:12

We are here today to meet with you, to listen to you.
Through these past days we have listened too much to the noise of this world and not found time to hear your voice.
All: Word of life, forgive us

Through these past days we have made choices without reference to you preferring our own wisdom to yours.
All: Word of life, forgive us

'O Lord you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.'
All: You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.'
(Psalm 139)

You know us so well, heavenly Father. You gave us the free will to make our own choices, but hold your arms wide to comfort and forgive us when we fail you, as so often we do.
Such love is beyond our understanding.
All: Thank you, heavenly Father

Through our words of prayer and adoration
All: We lift your name on high
Through our songs of praise and thanksgiving
All: We lift your name on high
Through our lives, our attitudes and acts of service
All: We lift your name on high

Together we share in the words of the Lord's prayer
All: Our Father…

Word of life, through whom this world was created and all things breathed into existence, may we draw close to you, hear you speaking, understand, and in understanding grow in faith and in service to you and to others.
