These studies are predominantly about those times when doubt and uncertainty creep into our spiritual lives, often uninvited, and begin to affect our relationship with God, fellow believers, and our daily interactions with others.
Doubt can lead to questioning the core tenets of Christian belief, such as the truth of scripture or the meaning of salvation. This internal struggle can be distressing, as it may feel like a betrayal of our faith community or personal convictions. Uncertainty about such themes as moral decisions and life’s purpose can make it challenging to live according to Christian principles.
Fortunately, within the pages of our Bible, there are many examples of doubt and uncertainty creeping into the lives of individuals (and groups), along with explanations of how these should be addressed. It might be a word from God or one of his prophets, studying scripture, remembering God’s help in the past, or through the loving embrace and encouragement of Christian friends.
Ultimately, acknowledging and addressing the doubts and uncertainties that challenge us can result in a stronger connection and better understanding about our relationship with God and the world we live in.
The study is formatted such that each individual study can be printed off on 2 double-sided sheets of A4 for distribution to a group, or distributed by email. If you're using it with more than one group, it would be appreciated if you could consider purchasing one study per group!
The four studies have all you need for a small group discussion, with useful images, plenty of commentary, discussion questions and prayers.
1) Facing up to our doubts
2) Where doubts can lead us
3) Some prominent doubters
4) Dealing with doubts!
